Delivery statuses explained

Translate each recipient status into the provider event or eligibility decision behind it.

In progress and successful

  • Preparing or Queued: TellTell has selected the address and is preparing or waiting to submit the delivery.
  • At provider: the delivery provider accepted TellTell's request. This is not yet proof of delivery to the recipient provider.
  • Delayed: the provider reported a temporary delay. More events may arrive.
  • Delivered: the receiving mail provider accepted the message.

Delivery issues and skips

  • Bounced: the receiving provider could not deliver it. A permanent bounce marks the address undeliverable; a temporary failure may be retried.
  • Marked as spam: the recipient or provider reported a complaint. TellTell will skip that complained address in later recipient plans.
  • Blocked or Couldn't send: the delivery was rejected or failed before a successful provider delivery event.
  • Skipped: the address was unsubscribed, removed, disabled, known undeliverable, or previously complained. The row gives the exact reason.
