Personalize ordinary group messages

Email variables work in the subject and message body of a message sent from any mail client, including quoted reply content. TellTell replaces each supported variable separately for every recipient.

Subject: Practice reminder for {{group}}

Hello {{first_name}},

{{team}} practice starts at 4:00 PM.

Variable reference

• {{people}} inserts each recipient's full name from the People directory.
• {{first_name}} inserts the text before the first space in each recipient's directory name. For example, Jordan Lee becomes Jordan.
• {{team}} inserts the team name captured when TellTell accepts the message.
• {{group}} inserts the group name captured when TellTell accepts the message.

Before you send

• Use the exact lowercase forms shown above, with no spaces inside the braces. Other brace expressions stay unchanged.
• Use no more than 25 supported variable occurrences in total across the subject, plain-text body, and HTML body.
• Email variables are available on every TellTell plan. A message above the 25-occurrence limit is rejected as a whole before delivery; reduce the variables and send it again.
